On 20 September 2016, Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery hosted a press conference where Head Doctor Volodymyr Zhovnir told all the present participants about medical equipment handed over to the cardiology centre. Specifically, the centre’s Roentgen-Endovascular Surgery Department has received an X-ray tube for the local biplane angiograph, worth EUR 50,000.
The equipment unit is used to diagnose heart and lungs abnormalities in new-borns, as well as to perform endovascular operations without surgical incisions, with the use of special probes through blood vessels. The cardiology centre has two units of this kind, so when one of them failed most operations had to be withheld. The other unit was run to operate children in critical condition who could not wait.
Using the biplane angiograph, the centre annually carries out more than 700 operations and 2,000 diagnostic tests, which gives an easy suggestion on how many kids had to wait their turn.
Having joined efforts, United World Cultures Foundation, the Chestnut Run Charity Foundation, NGO Pulmonary Hypertension Association, Amador Jose Lopez Rodriguez, and Oleg Skrypka helped Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery to resume operation of its biplane angiograph.
This has been also much facilitated by the funds raised through charity campaigns and events co-organized by our charity foundation UWCF, including such as the Grand French Evenings “Cabaret de Charite” with Oleg Skrypka, Salsa Marathon “Breath of Life”, and the annual charitable “Chestnut Run”.
Our charity foundation UWCF is committed to move beyond that and proceed with helping Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery to save little children suffering from cardiovascular diseases.
