Over its short history, UWCF has succeeded to implement a few important projects and thus move a step closer on the way to fulfil our mission.
On 22 November 2015, UWCF accomplished its first charity initiative: the Grand Children’s Evenings with Oleg Skrypka. Invited to the concert were little patients of the Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. All money raised through sold tickets have been used to purchase equipment for the medical centre.
On 13 December 2015, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the National Opera of Ukraine hosted the Student Performance Concert of the Kyiv State Ballet School. Through UWCF’s efforts, the concert was attended by children of IDP families, ATO participants’ families, inmates of family-type orphanages, and little patients of the Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, together with their parents.
On 17-19 March 2016, the Grand Prix Kyiv International Ballet Festival 2016, an international youth competitive festival of classical dance, took place under the patronage of Maryna Poroshenko, the Kyiv City State Administration and the Embassy of Japan. This annual event was hosted by the National Opera of Ukraine. The festival aimed to draw public attention to the current condition of choreographic education in Ukraine. All participants of the Grand Prix Kyiv 2016 had the opportunity to perform on the stage of the Taras Shevchenko National Opera, and the competition winners will be able to participate in the world tour “Stars of World Ballet”.
On 17-18 March 2016, with UWCF’s support, the V Anniversary Research and Practice Conference “Current Issues in Paediatric Anaesthesiology” took place in the Bukovel ski resort. The event was aimed at sharing experiences in the area of paediatric anaesthesiology and critical care, as well as establishing close cooperation between medical institutions of different countries.
On 23 April 2016, the grand opening ceremony of the Easter Eggs Festival was held on Sophia Square in Kyiv. UWCF joined the initiative and organised a master class in Easter eggs painting for children from ATO participants’ and IDPs’ families. The resulting Easter egg will join many others in their world exhibition tour together with the 374 Artists project.
On 12 May 2016, with UWCF’s support, the premiere of the first full-length documentary about national embroidered shirts “The Nation’s Heritage” took place at the Kyiv Cinema House.
On 12-13 May 2016, UWCF participated in the VII All-Ukrainian Nursing Congress “Medical Nurses as a Driving Force for Changes in the Provision of Efficient and Cost-Effective Medical Care”.
On 21 May 2016, with the support of the Kyiv City State Administration and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Salsa Marathon “Breath of Life” was held on Mykhailivska square in Kyiv. UWCF initiated and carried out the national charity event to support people suffering from pulmonary hypertension.
On 22 May 2016, UWCF organised the Grand French Evenings “Cabaret de Charite” initiated by Oleg Skrypka. The event was meant for a charity purpose to support the Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. All money raised through sold tickets have been used to purchase medical equipment for little patients suffering from heart defects.
On 28-29 May 2016, UWCF supported the International Children’s Circus Art Festival held in the National Circus of Ukraine in Kyiv.
On 29 May 2016, the 24th annual “Chestnut Run” took place. UWCF’s team joined in and invited other people with a proactive approach to life, to participate in the run. The event targeted to help children with congenital heart defects.
On 5 June 2016, UWCF supported and participated in the XI Children’s Competitive Festival “Mini Beauty World of Ukraine 2016” in Chernivtsi. Most Ukrainian regions were represented at the beauty contest by girls aged between 5 and 15 years. The festival aimed to open up young talents from all over Ukraine.
On 11-12 June 2016, the National Opera of Ukraine supported by UWCF hosted student graduation concerts of the Kyiv State Ballet School. We facilitate development of the performing arts so that children and adults in our country could fill with positive emotions and touch the world of beauty.
On 6 July 2016, United World Cultures Foundation held the psychological and entertaining event Joy Is the Best Medicine for patients of Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital and Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the MOH of Ukraine, and their parents.
On 23 July 2016, UWCF visited Bila Tserkva Children’s Residential Care Home to hand over a heavy-duty washing machine, footwear and sports equipment as charitable assistance to the facility, and to organize a sporting and entertaining event for the its inmates.
On 5 September 2016, on International Day of Charity, United World Cultures Foundation visited the town of Volochysk, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, to hold the campaign event Joy Is the Best Medicine under the program Let’s Improve Children’s Lives for kids with serious diseases and special needs. All children received gifts such as drawing sets, books, and other school supplies. UWCF also handed over a TV-set, bedding sets and children’s learning games to the Social Services Centre, and a massage pillow, an inhaler, learning games and books for children to the Volochysk Town Society of the Disabled.
On 9 and 10 September 2016, United World Cultures Foundation, the Ukrainian Association of Medical Tourism (UAMT) and Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the MOH of Ukraine held the seminar Charity – Good Deeds Guaranteed participated by representatives of various charitable organizations and diplomatic missions.
On 8 to 11 September 2016, with UWCF support, the Cup of Ukraine for Sport Sambo and Combat Sambo (self-defence without weapons) among men, women, juniors, older boys and girls took place at the sports complex of National Pedagogical Dragomanov University, participated by around 700 sportsmen from 22 Ukrainian regions. During the Cup’s competitions, a presentation was delivered on the large scale social project under the program Take Kids Away from the Streets initiated by Yuriy Skrypal, President of the Kyiv Sambo Federation. The project aims to encourage children and teenagers of vulnerable social groups who do not have enough opportunities for physical and intellectual development, to attend sambo classes on the free of charge basis.
On 10 September 2016, to mark Ukrainian Cinema Day, United World Cultures Foundation organized a visit to the Kyivska Rus Cinema for children of internally displaced persons and ATO participants, as an attempt to give them psychological support.
On 25 September 2016, on Khmelnytskyi City Day, United World Cultures Foundation conducted the charity dance marathon, aiming to raise public awareness of problems faced by children with special needs in Khmelnytskyi Region and help Turbota Centre of Medical and Social Rehabilitation for disabled children with nervous system and musculoskeletal system disorders at Khmelnytskyi City Children’s Hospital. Money raised through the event has been used to purchase equipment needed by Turbota Centre of Medical and Social Rehabilitation, worth in total UAH 11,061, in particular: a ball pit, a trampoline Total Sport, 2 gym mats, 300 balls for the ball pit, 2 fitness mats, and a folding gym mat.
On 29 September 2016, United World Cultures Foundation visited Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the MOH of Ukraine to greet doctors and little patients on World Heart Day, and presented a voucher for UAH 30,000 towards the purchase of an X-ray tube for the biplane angiograph installed in the centre’s Roentgen-Endovascular Surgery Department. For little patients, UWCF organized a fun-filled event with animators.
On 13 October 2016, UWCF team members made their first visit to the city of Avdiyivka, Donetsk Region, Ukraine, under the program Children of Avdiyivka to hand over charity aid to public institutions dealing with local kids, in particular: an alto saxophone to the music school; 10 drawing easels, 20 gouache sets, 15 paintbrush sets and 40 frames to arrange exhibitions of children’s paintings and handmade works, to the Children and Youth Creative Centre; an overhead projector, a mobile screen, 2 microscopes, 2 globes, 2 flashlights and 100 light bulbs to Avdiyivka Comprehensive School No. 1.
