Successful Ukrainian animator Nikita Kravtsov has contributed to our new educational project under the UWCF program “The Future Genius” by giving his first lecture as a guest speaker for lyceum students. The first audience to benefit from his lecture were students of 8th and 9th grades from Ukrainian Physics and Mathematics Lyceum affiliated with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
During the lecture, Nikita spoke about when and how animation really arose, as well as how the art is born and how this process takes place through the lens of animation. Additionally, the animator touched upon augmented reality and animation in literature. The lecture featured examples from sciences, video games, cartoons, and arts, which were so interesting that the children eagerly engaged in the discussion. The most active one – Mykhailo – received Nikita’s book “Animation History: How the Art Is Born” as a gift for his curiosity and creativity.
“I liked the lecture, it was really interesting. I didn’t know that you may use such a function as augmented reality in books. Now I want to take the [animation] course myself”, shared the boy.
In the school’s hallways, we located the interactive exhibitions “Leonardo Da Vinci’s Drawings in AR” and “Computer History in AR” prepared by students of animation school “Pause to Play” (you could see them before at our Expo Day “Da Vinci: Different Perspective”). The exhibits caused great excitement: children were enthusiastic installing the apps and taking time to watch every picture move.
Our new educational project of the program “The Future Genius” aims to make schoolchildren and students aware of future-oriented professions that exist in the modern world through sharing first-hand experience of practising professionals, as well as tell them about interesting arts, scientific inventions, creative work approaches, insights, lifehacks, and tips that school cannot teach. New lectures are coming soon, and Nikita will act as our speaker for a few more times. So don’t forget to check the latest news – the planned lectures will have free entrance (after the lockdown is over).
As a reminder, the first run of UWCF TALKS show, featuring Nikita Kravtsov as a guest is now available on our YouTube channel. This show run tells a story about someone who left home for several months (in fact, it’s been 6 years now) to “wait out” and eventually found his niche and set up a successful business in Kyiv, as well as about how animation became an art, and how the Hyperloop team found them and offered a job, and many other things – check out our video.
