  • Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, a state-owned institution under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (MoH), is the largest cardiac surgery centre of Europe, specialized in the provision of medical care to children with congenital and acquired heart and vascular defects.
  • The medical centre’s core areas are treatment and surgery, applied research, and organization and methodology.
  • Applied Research Medical Centre annually provides around 1,500 various surgeries, including SENNING, ARTERIAL SWITCH, ROSS, AV communications, plastic surgeries on heart valves in older children without the use of synthetic materials, etc., counsels and renders organizational and methodological assistance to Ukrainian healthcare institutions with regard to the issues of paediatric cardiac surgery, provision of counselling and diagnostics, cardiac surgery, and rehabilitation care to little patients, develops and endorses innovative medical technologies, new types of surgeries and diagnostics techniques. For example, the lifesaving programme COR-D for newborns with congenital heart defects, applicable within their first hours, has become a tool helping many babies to recover. The medical centre, with the use of telehealth systems, actively integrates Ukrainian medicine into the international medical community. The centre’s medical staff has extensive experience in pre- and post-surgery intensive care of newborns.
  • Introduction of innovative technologies for diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases, treatment methods, heart surgeries and after-treatment care of children, requires up-to-date equipment and appliances in sufficient quantity and relevant material and technical supplies for the entire hospital, which is quite expensive. In view of the challenging economic conditions faced by the state and the state ownership of Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, the institution may develop and show such high performance in treating little patients only through charitable support. For this reason, lives of children suffering from congenital and acquired heart and vascular defects from all over Ukraine, depend on those of us who care.
  • Objective:
  • provide Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the MoH of Ukraine with necessary medical equipment, to facilitate heart surgeons in saving infants’ lives and giving proper treatments;
  • create comfortable conditions for the centre’s little patients through providing material and technical supplies;
  • improve the psychological condition of ill children and their family members.
  • Techniques and methods:
  • Searching for sponsors, fund raising to provide assistance to the medical institution;
  • Carrying out cultural, educational, sport events to raise funds for covering the medical institution’s needs;
  • Inviting patients of Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the MoH of Ukraine to UWCF’s cultural and educational events, to cheer up and support ill children;
  • Organizing psychological trainings and entertainments for ill children and their parents;
  • Assistance in organizing and holding healthcare events for medical staff to participate, aimed at sharing experiences and establishing professional links;
  • Information support to the medical centre.

  • central governmental and local authorities, charitable organisations, volunteer organisations, community leaders, artists and other famous people.
