Cheerful sounds of music greeted the ear from the new premises of Kyiv Children’s Arts School No. 2 of M.I. Verykivsky. Inside, you could easily notice the results of multi-year rehabilitation works done. The teaching staff gave a warm and hearty welcome to all the guests. The ceremony hall was full of respectful and dressed-up ladies and gentlemen, including parents and friends.
The opening speech was delivered by the school’s director, Ms Larysa Rostovtseva, who gave an insight into the historical milestones of Kyiv Children’s Arts School No. 2 of M.I. Verykivsky that match those of the establishment and development of our national artistic pedagogy. The school’s founding year is considered to be 1931: back then Children’s Music School No. 2 was established and later, in 1987, served as a basis for the current arts school. It is the school where Mykola Lysenko’s granddaughter – Rada Lysenko – made her first steps in teaching to later become a professor of the Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. In this particular school, A. Pysarevskyi, a renowned music theorist and author of the still relevant training manual “Solfeggio”, once was giving his classes. A lot of other prominent figures worked in the school such as People’s Artists of Ukraine A. Belov, Y. Blynov, V. Okhrymenko, V. Tretiakova; Honoured Artists of Ukraine H. Berezova, V. Fedotov, I. Depler, N. Budovskyi, O. Kudriashov, I. Hordiychuk; composer Valeriy Podvala; laureates of international and national contests.
The teachers and students joined efforts and prepared a wonderful concert program to please and surprise the guests.
Our team members from the UWCF program “Future Genius” congratulated the school on its new premises and handed over presents from Saint Nicholas to our young friends – volunteers from the folk music band “Pervotsvit” organized at Kyiv Children’s Arts School No. 2 of M.I. Verykivsky under the leadership of Yuliya Hershtun.
We would like to express our appreciation to Yuliya Hershtun, head of the folk music band, who gives her talent, love and all her heart to the young members of the band. We wish her further creative success and new accomplishments.
Our special thanks also go to the band members’ parents for their understanding and contribution to the creative career of their children’s band. We wish the young singers success, inspiration, and a triumphant future!
