Within the framework of the program “Children of Avdiivka” Charity Fund UWCF provides support to education, culture and health institutions of the Avdiivka city since 2016.
On 2 September the Fund representatives have visited the city and joined the official school-year opening ceremony of the Avdiivka Secondary School I-III degrees No.7 with an important mission: to unveil, together with pupils and teachers, the “Flowers of Ukraine” mural, and to award the winners of the same name drawing contest, as well as the winners of historical and artistic research “Development of the World Street Art”, which had taken place at the end of the previous school year under the social and artistic project entitled “SchoolBrightArt Avdiivka”, as part of the program “Children of Avdiivka”.
This bright mural on the façade of the school No.7 (Avdiivka city, Komunalna Str., 7) was created under the UWCF’s initiative by the results of the projects competition “LET’S ALTER AVDIIVKA TOGETHER!”, launched by the Avdiivka Coke Plant general director Musa Magomedov in partnership with Military and Civil Administration of the Avdiivka city.
By the competition results Charity Fund UWCF was announced the winner and awarded a winners certificate with a UAH 65,000 cash prize for project implementation.
The mural was created by artist Andrii Palval (Kailas-V), whose artworks decorate many buildings in Ukraine and abroad.
In the course of implementation of the social and artistic project “SchoolBrightArt Avdiivka”, the mural creation was preceded by two contests for pupils of Avdiivka Secondary School I-III degrees No. 7: historical and artistic research “Development of the World Street Art” and drawing contest “Flowers of Ukraine”, and the winners were awarded during the official school year opening ceremony.
The winner of the historical and artistic research “Development of the World Street Art” is Yurii Dorofeiev, the 2nd place won Sergii Pinchuk,. the 3rd place – Anzhela Semenova. UWCF awarded the winners with certificates, gifts and monetary prizes. The participants of the artistic research – Dmytro Marchenko, Vladyslav Havrysh and Vladyslav Korobkov – were awarded winners certificates and books, which will hopefully come in handy when studying the cultural and historical heritage.
The participants of the drawing contest “Flowers of Ukraine” have made a direct contribution, through their works, to the mural creation – poppies from the winner’s drawing were added to the mural design. The winner of the contest – Sofia Tkachuk, the 2nd place – Uliana Khomenko, the 3rd place – Illia Davydov. The contest was participated by 60 pupils and everyone was awarded a winners certificate with a little gift.
On 2 September a photo exhibition “Children of the World” was displayed at the school No. 7, with presentation in the Arts Arsenal (Arsenal of Ideas) as part of the Young Artists’ Festival. The photo exhibition has shown the works of some travelling photographers who make their way around the world and take pictures of children: Artem Getman (Ukraine), Henry Doctorello (UAE), Nabila Obayed (Bangladesh), Kemal Vural (Turkey), Petra (Croatia), Michael Marquand (USA), Hague Suza (India).
However, there were some more surprises ahead. Two interactive whiteboards donated by INTBOARD and worth UAH 44,980, arrived for Avdiivka secondary schools No. 6 and No. 7 from Konotop to make the learning process more interesting and exciting.
