Friendship and Kindness are the Two Wings of Happiness

Date: August 13, 2019

We all have friends and acquaintances in our life. Communication with them often brings us joy. Indeed, finding and having a friend is happiness. Most of us would agree that happiness is when we are understood, and that’s why we all constantly seek a friend who would understand, listen and support. Our project “Health Protection of Mother and Child. State Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology under the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”, as a part of UWCF’s program “Walking to the Health Land”, is lucky to have such a friend – pharmaceutical company Arterium. Having big hearts filled with deep compassion, the company staff are like bright stars shining with the light of kindness.

Charity Fund UWCF is the bridge of philanthropy that allows business companies to choose the most convenient ways for their charitable activities. The Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology is the last resort that provides medical care to the most critically ill children and pregnant women from all regions of Ukraine.

On 13 August 2019, the team of UWCF’s project “Health Protection of Mother and Child. State Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology (IPOG) under the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”, as a part of our program “Walking to the Health Land”, handed over highly needed medicine donated by pharmaceutical company Arterium to the IPOG, for the amount of more than UAH 15,000. These medications are quite important for expectant mothers because they are taken before, during and after the childbirth.

“The fact is that we really need all the pharmaceuticals handed over by UWCF. There are a lot of ill people seeking medical care; annually thousands of women and children from various regions of Ukraine receive treatment in our institute: nearly 11,000 (hospital care) and nearly 20,000 (outpatient care). Since the governmental support is not sufficient for the organization’s activity, the IPOG under the State National Academy of Medical Sciences forces the need to seek charity support from sponsors, benefactors, and charitable foundations. All medications, especially those donated open-heartedly just like in this case, are needed and appreciated”, - commented the head of the institute’s medical staff.

“Our team at United World Cultures Foundation helps people spend less on medicines; it’s almost every day that we receive requests from relatives of people who can’t afford treatment. We make targeted donations only of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals and only provided that there are certificates issued by family doctors”, said Lyudmyla Lysenko, head of the program “Walking to the Health Land”.

So, always keep in mind that kindness is a sign of strength, not weakness!
