UWCF’s Star in Zhytomyr Philanthropists Square

Date: November 8, 2019

Zhytomyr Region gradually earns the title of philanthropic region. On November 8, 2019, Zhytomyr Technological College hosted the biggest event in the 2019 philanthropic calendar – the 6th Annual Grand Charity Ball 2019.

The Ball’s main objective is to thank all the philanthropists for their daily good deeds bringing joy to children, to reward the most active benefactors for their work during 2019, and to open an alley of stars in the Philanthropists Square.

The star of – United World Cultures Foundation, Kyiv, was among the first installed in the square.

This year 10 stars were installed on the Alley of Philanthropists: LOVE Charitable Fund, Petro Rud, Charity Fund UWCF, Liubov Tsymbaliuk, Liudmyla and Volodymyr Kropyvnytski, Polissia-Product LLC, International Charitable Foundation Open Heart, Pervotsvit Farm LLC, Karin Rauschenbach, Metropolitan of Zhytomyr and Novograd-Volynsky UOC, His Eminence Nicodemus.

Opening of the Philanthropists Square was followed by consecration of its territory by Metropolitan Nicodemus. His Eminence emphasized the importance in human life of such qualities as charity, love and helping others, especially when it comes to children.

The main initiators of creation in Zhytomyr of the Philanthropists Square were: Zhytomyr City Children’s Public Organization Vse Robymo Sami (“We Do It All by Ourselves”), LOVE Charitable Fund, and Zhytomyr Technological College KNUCA.

Following the opening of the Philanthropists Square, the 6th Grand Charity Ball was held in the assembly hall of Zhytomyr Technological College.

During the celebrations, Liudmyla Lysenko, UWCF’s programs and projects manager, received her award and words of gratitude for the good deeds from the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, as well as a medal from Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The guests were greeted from the stage by talented children with special needs of the integrated performance group Harmoniia and Siaivo (“Harmony and Shine”), children from low-income families and a choir of generations. In our country, there are many myths about people with special needs, unlike Europe and USA where they are treated on equal terms and not shied away from. Such events prove that people with Down syndrome can live fully normal lives, develop as individuals and benefit society. Our humanity is like a great puzzle in which each of us holds an important place.
