It all starts with the ability to rejoice and sympathize, empathize, respond to the feelings of others and keep your soul open. When we speak about “good” person, we mean that he is ready to come for help, doing this not for the sake of profit, but disinterestedly, at the behest of the heart.
Visiting once a month friends from the educational institution “Pugachiv Psychoneurological Orphanage” (Zhytomyr region, Berezneve village) has already become an old and good tradition for leaders of student self-government of Solomensky district educational institutions headed by teachers of the Palace of Children's and Youth Creativity of the Solomensky district of Kyiv with volunteers detdom.info and for United World Cultures Foundation.
The pupils are very different: some – the silent sit in the corner of the room, others – are actively fighting for attention and affection. Some – constantly run from the volunteer to the volunteer and embrace, others – motionlessly frozen in one pose. But behind all this noise and silence lies the naked soul of every child. These are children, the same as native ones – beloved, sometimes “unbearable”, requiring attention 24 hours\day. Pupils with special needs need warmth and attention. You look – an adult girl, a teenager, and in the process of communication she behaves like a little girl.
There are many ways you can diversify and create for your pupils their own cozy homely atmosphere and develop an individual day program that would help fill the lives of girls with meaning. Management of the orphanage examined the possibility of repairing one of the orphanage’s buildings. The task was not easy... Girls are different in age, they may have completely different interests.
At the end of 2017, the United World Cultures Foundation presented two new acrylic bathtubs from a German manufacturer, and from that time the dream of all the staff of the orphanage and Foundation employees began to equip a bathroom for special princesses. In the morning and at the end of the day we come to the bathroom for taking a bath. Therefore, the bathroom must be functional and comfortable. At the same time, we wanted to see it not only comfortable in terms of care, but also modern, stylish.
Also the United World Cultures Foundation donated a printer from Mrs. Yampolskaya, so the pupils can better prepare for embroidery classes. Also, Foundation employees often indulge the special princesses with sweets, this time their favourite biscuits – Barney, chewing gum from the Kyiv city charity foundation “FoodBank” - became a pleasant surprise.
It was a wonderful trip, filled with love, happiness, joy.
