United World Cultures Foundation supported the celebration of St. Nicholas Day to be organized for 5-class students of Suzirya (“Constellation”) secondary school in Vyshgorod on 18 December at the initiative of the Ancient Rus Pottery Museum of the Vyshgorod Historical and Cultural Reserve. The UWCF team members and the reserve’s friends – ATO participants Vyacheslav Verkhochub and Maksym Tumko – were welcomed by the museum’s staff that was headed by Oksana Starak-Poviakel, Manager, and Vlada Lytovchenko, Director of the Vyshgorod Historical and Cultural Reserve. We would like to thank Vlada Lytovchenko and Oksana Starak-Poviakel for the organization of such a wonderful event for kids!
Through UWCF’s efforts, a festively decorated Christmas tree appeared in the museum’s yard and St. Nicholas was treating sweets to well-behaved children. The invited kids enjoyed celebrating, joking, telling rhymes and singing songs, meeting Bishop Nicholas in silver mitre and vestments, as well as solving riddles. The celebration was great fun!
