UWCF co-organized the Grand Prix Kyiv International Ballet Festival 2016, an international youth competitive festival of classical dance, that took place on 17 to 19 March 2016 in the National Opera of Ukraine under the patronage of Maryna Poroshenko, Embassies of Japan, Germany, Moldova, and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
The festival aimed to draw public attention to the current condition of choreographic education in Ukraine, support talented children from Ukrainian ballet schools, establish links between ballet schools of various countries, and reveal true talents.
The festival caught the interest of Toshihiko Takahashi, worldwide famous patron of the ballet art from Japan, who has become a partner in organization of the event.
The competitive festival’s participants included young performers from Germany, Japan, Moldova, Brazil, and Ukraine. Finalists of the festival were offered a unique opportunity to participate in the world tour “Stars of World Ballet” and were also awarded money and valuable prizes.
UWCF provided free tickets for attending the Grand Prix Kyiv 2016 to patients of the Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, orphan children, children from low-income families, and children of ATO participants.
