The UWCF, AUCHAN and LUXOPTICA held a charitable campaign "To see more - to live better"

On July 8, 2017 the "United World Cultures Foundation", the "Luxoptika" company and hypermarkets Auchan Ukraine held a charitable campaign "To see more - to live better." All interested persons checked their visual acuity for free, and in Auchan Lybidska (Kyiv) they were able to measure intraocular pressure. Also, the charity campaign was aimed at raising awareness of the population about the ways of preserving vision and taking care of their eyes.

The eye is an important organ through which a person receives most of the information about the world around him/her. However, most often the deterioration of eyesight does not make people anxious about it. Timely revealed indicators of the decrease in the function of the human eye allow us to implement timely corrective measures. A person who has good eyesight should clearly see both afar and near.

According to statistics, every 7 seconds someone loses sight ... If you notice reddening of the eyes, there is a slight burning sensation, there is tearing when there is a bright sunlight or a strong wind, if your eyes tire quickly during reading or computer work, and there is a headache, then you should immediately check your vision.

And even if you are not complaining about anything, an eye examination should be carried out regularly, because eye disease usually begins and often flows imperceptibly and many people do not know about their illness.

As part of the large-scale international movement of the Auchan hypermarket chain "We are for good, healthy and local", on July 8, 2017 the "United World Cultures Foundation", the "Luxoptika" company and hypermarkets Auchan Ukraine held a charitable campaign "To see more - to live better." All interested persons checked their visual acuity for free, and in Auchan Lybidska (Kyiv) they were able to measure intraocular pressure. Also, the charity campaign was aimed at raising awareness of the population about the ways of preserving vision and taking care of their eyes.

"In all Auchan hypermarkets in Ukraine, the charitable campaign "To see more - to live better " is held for the first time, during which customers of Auchan, with the goal of preventing bad vision and blindness, were able to measure intraocular pressure and check visual acuity. These people have a chance to avoid eye complications, and thus improve the quality of life in the future," concluded Olga Boyko, Communication et RSE of the Auchan hypermarkets.

"Visual acuity of less than 100% means the presence of certain violations and encourages the ophthalmologist to provide a free coupon from the "Luxoptica" company for a more detailed examination of the vision. Specialists from the company diagnose disorders in detail: violation of refraction (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, accommodation spasm), amblyopia (reduction of visual acuity, not amenable to correction), glaucoma, cataract, etc. - and start the appropriate treatment on time. Also, the participants of the charitable campaign "To see more - to live better" receive 10% discount from the company for the optical order (frames + lenses)", commented Natalia Yakovetskaya, PR Manager of the Optical House "Luxoptica".

The "United World Cultures Foundation" took part in the organization and holding of the "To see more - to live better" campaign, implementing the "Shine of Happy Eyes" project of the "Walking to the Healthland" program.

According to the estimates of the UWCF, during the Saturday charity event about 15,000 people were informed about the ways to preserve their eyesight and received information leaflets describing the first signs of visual impairment, a set of exercises for eye fatigue and prevention of myopia and vision improvement, and rules which must be followed to prevent deterioration of eyesight. About 8000 people received a flyer that gives the right to get a free diagnostics and get a 10% discount on an optical order at any Luxoptica department by August 10, 2017. About 2000 visitors to the Auchan hypermarkets checked their eyes for free on that day and received professional advice from ophthalmologists.

Each hypermarket in Ukraine was equipped with tables to test the vision. The volunteers of the United World Cultures Foundation gave introductory booklets with exercises for the eyes, with detailed recommendations for the support of healthy vision, which visitors can use later at home. Also volunteers conducted a social survey, the results of which we will report a little later.

We strongly recommend all Ukrainians to visit a polyclinic, measure intraocular pressure, check visual acuity, because with timely diagnosis, proper treatment and the implementation of all the recommendations of an ophthalmologist, vision can be preserved.

Also, you need to protect your eyes from injuries, ultraviolet and infrared radiation. Nice organization of the workplace, good lighting and correct posture will help to maintain health. It is useful to make short, but frequent periods of rest, learn to relax. It is necessary to follow the diet, to walk more in the street, in the forest, near the river, in the meadow, where a wide horizon is provided - it is a wonderful rest for the eyes. Visit periodically a specialist to check your eyes - this will help your vision last longer, and if you find any problems - do not let them get worse.
