Many women dream of having beautiful, ample breasts. Still, there are cases when this body part has to be removed or operated on; woman’s life dramatically changes in a flash, without any right to choose… What is she supposed to tell her children now – how not to frighten them? How to tell the relatives about the diagnosis? Will she find enough strength and faith in recovery? How to get used to it???
The campaign “Battle for Life Goes On, Amazons!” (providing free Amoena breast silicone prostheses), as part of the UWCF’s program “Walking to the Health Land”, was initiated to help cancer patients not to become withdrawn or be shy about their diagnosis and just move on.
The campaign travels to little towns and villages in order to make the Amazon mothers feel confident about their future. It is important for us that a woman is healthy, has positive thinking and support – then the children are happy in the family.
Recently, a young lady from Sloviansk city (Donetsk Region) made a visit to our office. In a telephone conversation she said she barely waited for the delivery notice from post office, and was going to come with her husband and thank us personally. It was a very quick meeting, after which a satisfied and confident young mother went back to Sloviansk.
On holidays the campaign “Battle for Life Goes On, Amazons!” presented two more mothers from Kyiv and Kharkiv with Amoena compensatory silicone cups for lumpectomy – partial removal of the mammary gland.
“Members of our campaign “Battle for Life Goes On, Amazons!” met wonderful girls, young mothers from various parts of Ukraine. Free Amoena breast silicone prostheses were handed over to 35 women from Regions of Lviv, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Kirovohrad. And today – from Donetsk Region. We want them to be healthy and happy. The women from little towns and villages, more than anyone else, need support of the people around them. They should not feel scared or ashamed about their looks wearing silicone prosthesis. They are not only comfortable and safe, but flawlessly conceal the absence of mammary glands. Nobody is immune to cancer – rich or poor – this can happen to anyone”, - - commented Liudmyla Lysenko, manager of the UWCF’s program “Walking to the Health Land”.
The prosthesis is a capsule made of strong and flexible polyurethane film filled with silicone gel. It is made exclusively of environmentally friendly materials, fully physiologically compatible with human tissues, non-toxic, safe for prolonged contact. The outer film has a great resemblance to the human skin – the same flexibility, consistency, soft surface. In addition, these materials warm up to normal body temperature very quickly – in a minute or two a woman ceases to feel the prosthesis. Silicones’ unique properties allow the prosthesis to shake while walking, be naturally distributed in horizontal position, and quickly restore shape when a lady gets up.
All the heroines of the campaign “Battle for Life Goes On, Amazons!” are incredibly beautiful and positive persons. They are real heroines!
