V International Ballet Festival "Grand Prix Kyiv"

For the fifth consecutive year, the United World Cultures Foundation co-organizes the Grand Prix Kyiv International Ballet Festival, which will be held on 11 to 13 March at the Taras Shevchenko National Opera of Ukraine. This year about 80 young dancers aged from 15 to 18 years from 14 countries of the world will take part in the competition: USA, Canada, Germany, Norway, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Austria, Belarus, Turkey, China, South Korea Japan and Ukraine.

The international ballet festival “Grand Prix Kyiv” was created at the initiative of the People’s Artist of Ukraine, artistic director of the Kyiv State Choreographic School Nobuhiro Terada. The jury of the competition includes world-famous ballet dancers, namely: world ballet star, choreographer, tutor, V. Nizhinsky prize winner Vladimir Malakhov (chairman of the jury); jury members - patron of the competition Toshihiko Takahashi, director of the Hungarian National Opera Tomas Solimosi, artistic director of the State Theater of Kiel (Germany) Yaroslav Ivanenko, premier of the La Scala opera theater Leonid Sarafanov, expert of the Beijing Dance Academy Xu Ding Joong, President of Korea IBC Jae Keun Park, national artist of Ukraine, teacher-tutor of the National Opera of Ukraine Olena Filipeva, director of the ballet school “Terada” (Kyoto, Japan) Michiko Terada, president of the company “Koransha” Masahiko Yamamoto, teacher of the J. Kranko ballet school Dmitry Magitov, teacher of the State Ballet Academy of Berlin, Anna Svitlichenko, People’s Artist of Ukraine, teacher-tutor of the National Opera of Ukraine Sergey Bondur, artistic director of the Norwegian ballet school Siri Aarset Johansen, artistic coordinator and director of OF ALBERTA BALLEТ II (Canada) Aram Manukyan, methodologist of the department of special disciplines of the KSBS, Sergiy Lakhtionov.

Today we can proudly state that Ukrainian ballet is known in the world, and our artists occupy top places in the most prestigious ballet competitions and perform the main parts on famous stages of the world. This is the only professional ballet competition in Ukraine for students of dance schools, participation in which is absolutely free. Every year we direct our efforts to ensure that the competition of talented young people find their weighty place on the competitive ballet map of the world - in Ukraine.

The main surprise of the award ceremony, which will be held March 13 at 19:00, will be Ball Maskquerade ballet staged by the world ballet star Vladimir Malakhov and performed by students of the Kyiv State Choreographic School.

We are confident that in 2019 the competition will again light the new stars of the world ballet!
