Regardless of which age category a person is, everyone should regularly undergo basic diagnostic examinations of the organ of vision. How often one should visit an ophthalmologist depends on the person's age, general health and ophthalmic problems. If there's a discomfort in the eyes, the vision has impaired or there are any other manifestations, you should immediately consult an ophthalmologist. If you do not have any complaints about the eyes, it is advisable to visit an ophthalmologist every two years.
Luxoptika and the United World Cultures Foundation launched the All-Ukrainian project "I give care", so as many people as possible could consult with the ophthalmologist, determine visual acuity, check eye pressure, assess the health of the eyes and get a prescription for free glasses. After all, glasses are the most popuar way on the planet to correct the sight. According to WHO, about 30% of the world's population has poor eyesight, and most of them use glasses.
Doctors-ophthalmologists of the All-Ukrainian project "I give care" have picked up glasses for near and far distance for 406 residents of Ruzhinsky district of Zhytomyr region (residents of Belilovka, Kotelyanka, Nemyrintsy, Knyazhiki, Derganovka, Osipovka, Vyshneve and Volnopillya).
Choosing glasses is a painstaking manipulation that requires a lot of experience of the doctor. With myopia, the ophthalmologist uses ocular glass, which weakens the optical power of the eye. These are the scattering lenses, they are denoted by the "-" sign. With farsightedness, it is necessary to strengthen the optical power of the eye. For this purpose, prefabricated lenses are used, which are indicated by the "+" sign.
On September 30, 2017 the first batch of glasses has already been given to residents of the village Belilovka (Zhytomyr region). They were manufactured by the company Luxoptika in the framework of the joint All-Ukrainian charity project "I give care".
On November 24, 2017, another batch of glassesfor residents of the Ruzhinsky district of the Zhytomyr region (residents of the villages of Belilovka, Kotelyanka, Nemyrinets, Knyazhiki, Derganovka, Osipovka, Vyshneve and Volnopillya) found their owners.
Summing up the results of the first stage of the All-Ukrainian project "I give care" in the Ruzhinsky district of the Zhytomyr region among residents of the villages of Belilovka, Kotelyanka, Nemyrintsy, Knyazhyky, Derganovka, Osipovka, Vyshneve and Volnopillya, the UWCF prepared a chart of the age diagnostic category for residents who took part in the project.
Based on the analysis of these data, we can conclude that a significant part of the population has a 10-40% decrease in vision, which is a consequence of untimely diagnosis, so eye exams should not be avoided at any age!
For children, timely examinations are important too, since it is the vision that affects the learning process. Visual acuity does not decrease immediately, children should be examined annually, at least up to 16 years of age.
After forty years, it is necessary to visit an ophthalmologist annually, since diseases such as cataracts tend to develop with age. People in adulthood can show the first signs of various diseases. At the initial stage, their development can be prevented.
For people with severe physical pathologies, like diabetes, regular preventive examinations are necessary to maintain the normal state of the organ of vision. This applies to people with complex ophthalmologic pathologies (glaucoma, retinal diseases).
Thus, the main conclusion of the All-Ukrainian project "I give care" is that the diagnosis of vision is the most important stage in the fight for eye health!
Examining the eyes, the specialist not only prescribes you glasses, he assesses the condition of the eyes as a whole. The doctor confirms that you do not have common eye diseases. Unfortunately, not everyone follow the recommendations of ophthalmologists that the examination of the visual system need to be done regularly.
The All-Ukrainian project "I give care" emphasizes the need to buy glasses only in trusted stores, where they are manufactured according to all quality standards. Do not neglect it, because low-quality lenses or glasses, selected independently, without consulting a specialist, will only harm the health of your eyes and lead to a decrease in vision!
