The Biplane Angiograph Now Operating and Helping to Save Little Patients’ Lives

Natalia Kutsenko, UWCF Director, visited Applied Research Medical Centre of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to check from Head Doctor Volodymyr Zhovnir on how well the equipment worked at the Centre’s Roentgen-Endovascular Surgery Department. As a reminder, the purchase of an X-ray tube worth EUR 50,000 was facilitated by UWCF, to be installed in the local biplane angiograph.

The equipment unit is used to diagnose heart and lungs abnormalities, as well as to perform endovascular operations without surgical incisions. Using the angiograph, the Centre carries out more than 700 surgeries and 2,000 diagnostic tests annually. We have made sure that the equipment is now working and helping to save little patients.
