An important goal of the UWCF’s program “Walking to the Health Land” is to increase the birth rate and create conditions conductive to children’s birth and upbringing. At the same time, the problems of preserving children’s health, as well as reducing maternal and child mortality, are of particular relevance.
Today we cannot imagine the life of a little human without being monitored by a specialist doctor. It is the pediatrician who gives parents recommendations about child care.
It is no coincidence that the Pediatrician’s Day is the same date for the World Children’s Day. And besides, it is 89 years since the foundation of the Medical Faculty No. 3, Pediatrics Department of the Bogomolets National Medical University, which is now headed by Oksana Vygovska, Doctor of Medicine, and professor at the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases. There were a lot of interesting events for the Faculty’s students within the BNMU walls, taking place from 19 to 20 November, 2019. The celebration began with a symposium, and the first vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work and postgraduate education, professor Yu. L. Kuchyn, after welcoming the participants, emphasized the importance and responsibility of the profession of a pediatrician, and wished everyone fruitful work during the master classes and a nice celebration.
The team of the UWCF’s program “Walking to the Health Land” also joined the greetings and wished the Faculty new achievements and victories. The Student Council of the Faculty received gifts meant for various future events.
On November 19, 2019, a brain-ring in pediatrics was held within the framework of the Pediatric Forum. There were 7 teams taking part, of which 5 best ones were selected. The teams demonstrated a high level of knowledge in pediatrics and received interesting books from Charity Fund UWCF.
On November 22, a sports quest took place, timed to the Week of Pediatrics Faculty. The students have attended all the lectures and master classes, so it was time for them to get a little exercise.
There were numerous student contests held, and Charity Fund UWCF congratulated the strong bunch of the first, second and third place winners by awarding them gifts, and wished the other teams future victories, along with awarding them encouragement prizes!
“The Faculty of Foreign Citizens Training is sincerely grateful to professor, dean of the Medical Faculty No. 3, for the opportunity to join in the celebration of the Pediatrician’s Day and the Interdisciplinary Forum on Pediatrics. This was the first major joint project of foreign and local students. On Friday, November 22, the Pediatrics quiz was first held in English, with 12 teams from various courses taking part. We hope that such events will become a tradition”, - said Yu. P. Reznikov, deputy dean of the FCT Faculty.
The celebration ended with annual charity event “Donor’s Week” at the Pediatrics Department.
Blood donation took place from Monday to Thursday, at the Blood Donor Center at OKHMATDYT National Specialized Children’s Hospital. This week, more than 40 students volunteered to be blood donors, and 27 of them were actually able to donate blood.
Students who volunteered to donate blood received a food fortified mix of Manna Pack rice from the UWCF’s program “Walking to the Health Land”, which they decided to hand over to a children’s residential school in December.
“We would like to wish the students to always feel their responsibility, and realize that it is them who are at the forefront of the struggle for people’s health. We wish you inspiration and success. Never stop on achieved results. In a couple of years pediatric students will join the professional family, and we are confident that they will become specialists. And for the celebration of the 90th anniversary we are planning a bunch of joint projects and events”, - commented Liudmyla Lysenko, manager of the UWCF’s program “Walking to the Health Land”.
