Shatsk District Hospital Receives Wheelchairs

Date: February 2020

The campaign “Special Transport for People with Disabilities” of the UWCF program “Walking to the Health Land” and International Charitable Fund “Contribution to Medicine Development” has visited Municipal Non-Profit Company “Shatsk District Hospital of the Shatsk District Council” to donate two multi-functional wheelchairs. There, just like in any other medical facility, these vehicles are critically needed. Every department has patients who have reduced mobility for various reasons.

“Our hospital’s services are provided to 16,734 assigned patients, encompassing all the types of specialized medical care”, - shares Ms Svitlana Krets, Director of Shatsk District Hospital operating under the Shatsk District Council. - “You know, there are children suffering from really complicated disorders who need transportation during their therapies. With babies – no problem, they can easily be carried in arms. However, if these are older kids, you cannot cope without a wheelchair. In some cases, a patient may get hurt, which temporarily - whether in part or in full – blocks their ability to move unaided. During rehabilitation and therapy periods, a wheelchair gives a solid support and ease in the patient’s travel around the hospital site. We are especially pleased that the donated wheelchairs are really functional, convenient, and have little weight”.

Over this time, we have received requests from many Ukrainians who cannot do without wheelchairs. We will continue our work for this cause: there are still healthcare facilities, there are families out there that need this kind of support. I guarantee they will receive it”.

The more we do together, the higher quality services will be provided to local adult patients and especially children at hospitals.
