Date: 10.06.2018

The charitable project Active Leisure of the program "Let's improve children’s lives" of the United World Cultures Foundation helped to integrate children with disabilities at inclusive festival Just Like Me.

The project "Active Leisure" gave more strength and inspiration to children and parents to take even more important steps forward. Everyone could take part in a bright, interesting and rich sports and cultural entertainment program. The the sport zone of the festival Just Like Me included table tennis, yoga for beginners and fitness.

The curator of the project "Active Leisure", UWCF volunteer Valentina Logvinenko, informed about details of the project. So, the goal of the initiative is to reduce the psychological barriers between children and young people with disabilities with their peers. And among the tasks is attracting young people to the project, promoting the integration of children and youth with disabilities in everyday life, popularizing table tennis and yoga among young people.

Of course, Valentina, as the organizer of the project, made a lot of efforts to present the sports section of the festival at a high level. But she does not cease to say gratefully about the people who were always with her. "The greatest happiness is to see the eyes of the people to whom you are doing good," says Valentina. "As for me, the most important result of the festival is to get people out of their houses, to give an opportunity to communicate, overcome fear and get out. I know how hard this is for the first time. But who overcame himself, his complexes, his fears, he feels free and more confident."

"Thanks to the sport zone, our children have become more initiative, purposeful, eager to develop. We are very happy that children can take the example from healthy children and move forward, get sports victories," - thanked Pavel's mom, Lilia.

After all activites everyone enjoyed the performance of capoeiristas with the children at the stage.

"Capoeira for children is a synthesis of physical activities with elements of the game. One of the most suitable martial arts for children. If you want your child to grow not only strong and hardy, but also develop flexibility, the ability to move to music and feel the rhythm, and be confident, then capoeira is exactly what you are looking for," said Sergei Bondarchuk, head of capoeirist.

Energetic Family-inclusive festival Just Like Me did not leave anyone indifferent. All received a charge of cheerfulness, good mood and unforgettable emotions, the most active children and young people were also awarded prizes - free tickets (the project "Active Leisure" was issued 40 tickets) to differet entertainment clubs for children.

In addition, for the pupils of the Pugachivsky Psychoneurological Orphanage (Zhytomyr region, Korosten district, Berezneve), a tennis table was presented for conducting adaptive physical activity classes.

For many, the playground at the festival is just entertainment, but for someone a successful step to the sport and high achievements.
